I’m Adam Erhart. I make pottery by hand on Vancouver Island.

Shaped by the mountains, forest, and ocean.

I work in a studio built for patience and process, where clay, wheel, and fire come together one piece at a time. For me, pottery is an antidote to the noise of modern life. In a world driven by speed and screens, I believe in slowing down, working with your hands, and creating objects that are meant to be used, held, and lived with.

Each piece I make is simple, functional, and grounded. Mugs that fit naturally in the hand. Bowls passed around the table. Vessels that carry a sense of place and presence. I believe that the things we use every day should connect us to material, to process, and to the rhythms of life.

My work is shaped by the rugged beauty of this coast — weathered driftwood, dense forests, shifting tides, and quiet mornings. I take inspiration from the textures and forms of the natural world, and from the long tradition of craftsmanship that values process over perfection.

When I’m not at the wheel, I run a marketing business — a different kind of craft, but grounded in the same principles: patience, discipline, and doing the work with care and intention. Pottery brings balance to that work. It returns me to the tactile, to the material, to the steady rhythm of shaping something real.

I make each piece slowly, in small batches. No two are exactly alike — and that’s the point. The marks of the hand, the subtle variations of glaze and form — these are reminders that the object in your hands was shaped with care and intention.

If my work can bring even a small moment of pause, comfort, or ritual into someone’s day, then I consider that time well spent at the wheel.

Thanks for being here.
